Will you choose a life of passion and purpose? I strongly believe that waking up every day doing the work you love and standing in your purpose is a pure Gift from God. It takes courage, strength and dedication to accept this Gift. If you’re uncertain of your passion, just take a moment and ask yourself –What fills my heart with joy and there isn’t an amount of money that can compensate for this joy and fulfillment? 9 times out of 10 this is your passion. Looking into that desire is where you will find a dynamic link between who you are and what you were divinely created to do. This is your purpose.
Just a month ago, I traveled from Washington DC to Dallas Texas to become a Certified Dream Coach®. Months before traveling to Texas, I battled with the idea of giving up on my aspirations and Dreams of empowering women and girls as my full-time life’s work/career. Fear stepped in and left me with the impression that my Dream was too risky and I would not be able to do the work I love and still be equipped to provide for my family. Thoughts of not being smart enough or deserving enough to live my Dream life echoed in my mind. I was afraid of failing and being such an independent woman, I feared being a burden on my husband. Perhaps, should I remain content with a normal 9-5 that pays the bills? Daunting thoughts like that lived only in my head with no connection to my heart. So, I decided to shun those thoughts and continue my journey towards believing in myself and living my Dreams simply because they matter and will positively impact so many lives.
Words can’t express how that Texas trip enlightened me; I was among an elite group of individuals ranging from 25 to 76 years of age. They were all just as eager and dedicated to making the world a better place. On day 3, I had a surreal moment causing tears to run vigorously down my cheeks while the inside of my body felt warm and light as a feather. My heart was heavy and filled with an enormous amount of gratitude. At that moment, I realized I was in my grace space surrounded by change makers, givers, healers, creators and dreamers. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I was not only learning how to take someone through a proven method designed to help people achieve their Dreams. I too was being coached on making my Dreams come true. For the first time in a long time, I meditated and was able to be still enough to hear God’s voice saying “DeVonna keep going and I will lead the way”.
Then, derived from my heart surfaced my purpose “I Am Love and my Purpose is to serve, inspire and empower.” All I could do at that moment was smile and laugh because I felt blessed with the opportunity of helping disadvantaged women and teen mothers believe in themselves and break cycles of poverty and unhappiness. I empower them through a positive self-concept program and curriculum I created through my non-profit organization. It fills my heart with so much joy when I see women and girls transform from hurt, anger, pain and fear to joy, happiness, hope determination and eagerness. I’m thankful.
What is your Purpose? Are you willing to explore who you are? Remember, we will never ever have this moment in time again. Take steps towards following your passion and discovering your Purpose. I’m so excited about who you are destined to become. Believe in yourself and STAND in your PURPOSE. I believe in YOU. My belief does not mean that you will not face adversity as you strive to live a purposeful life. In fact, even harder obstacles and setbacks may come, however, every setback it a setup for Greatness. When fear, doubt and uncertainty come your way, YOU must look to your Purpose for the power that resides inside of you and choose LOVE over FEAR. I choose Love. How about you? As I bring closure to this message that I’ve written to you from my heart, I leave with you the words of Winston Churchill, “Success is not fatal, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
