| February 9, 2012

Have the Time of Your Life on AG’s Dime! Unpaid, but great travel and fun in store

Afrikan Goddess Media is seeking a web-savvy, great-writing, fun-seeking but serious style editor to manage our upcoming online fashion magazine and to represent Afrikan Goddess at premier fashion events around the Washington, DC Metro area and elsewhere.

Job Description:
The ideal candidate will not only attend events, but will completely manage our all new online style magazine and feed it with fun and exciting fashion news/trends/event news and more. This is currently an unpaid position, but the BIG perk is that you get to attend fashion-related events on our dime. This position requires one-on-one (phone/email included) interviews with fashion designers and fashion industry trend-setters, so the right candidate must be personable and able to communicate well with others in a way that represents Afrikan Goddess in a positive light.

The Ideal Candidate:
You are a fun and fabulous fashionista who knows what’s trendy in fashion – especially where African designers are concerned. You not only talk fashion, but you live and breathe it. You are a talented up and coming (or seasoned) writer looking to put your incredible skills to use in a fun working environment and you are looking to attend some fabulous and exclusive events around town to boot. You have a passion for blogging, love hanging around on social media sites like facebook and you love to communicate with others both online and offline in a super-connected and creative kind of way. In addition, you are confident and can walk into a room full of important people and not feel intimidated.

What You’ll be Doing:
-Attend premier fashion/fashion-related events on behalf of AGStyle Magazine
-Manage AGStyle Magazine
-Conduct interviews and feature designers
-Take everyday fashion-trendy news and give it a fresh Afrikan Goddess twist
-Work closely with the publisher/editor to grow the publication
-Contribute ideas
-Build a rapport with the fashion community

Skills & Qualifications You Must Have:
-Excellent written and communication skills
-Web content management skills
-Good command of the English language (especially written)
-Familiarity with social media and how to connect to (and grow) an online audience
-Availability. Events will be planned in advance, but there may be times when something just pops up and you may be needed to attend
-Attention to detail
-Be creative and think outside the box.
-Be trustworthy.
-A sense of humor. You’re going to need it working with me.

How to Apply:
Submit 2 writing samples, or a link to a website where your work can be viewed, along with a written statement telling me a little bit about yourself and why you think you are the best candidate for the job to editor@afrikangoddess.com with “Style Editor” in the subject line.

Only serious submissions will be considered! Please do not email for a follow up two days after you have applied.
The right candidate will attend the Maryland Fashion Awards in June. So hurry, Apply today!!!

Applications open only to United States (East Coast – Between New York and Washington, DC metro area) applicants at the moment. With time, we will welcome others on board.
