Who Are Africa’s First Ladies?

| December 28, 2011

It has been said that “behind every successful man, there is a woman.” We can’t argue with that. It is a great quote, and it shows the importance of women in the lives of men. But what if instead of behind men, women were to stand beside them? Wouldn’t that make for even better and prosperous nations? During the compilation of this list, while digging through the various roles, and levels of involvement of Africa’s First Ladies, one thing certainly stood out: the women who stand beside their husbands (not behind or totally invisible) in their unofficial capacities as First Ladies, were also involved and “visible” in important initiatives, heeding the needs of the women and children forgotten in the man-made policies. In other words, they made more effective First Ladies. Meet Africa’s First Ladies, courtesy of Afrikan Goddess Online.

Great Article. However, I will like to correct the quote to: “Beside every successful man, there is a woman.” Or in Jacob Zuma’s case, “there are women.”

    Keep up the good work.
